Shadows Ghosts Wraiths

They were nothing. Shadows. Ghosts. Wraiths. No one acknowledged them. No one glanced their way. But it didn't bother them. They had each other.
Though the teachers didn't call their names during attendance, they showed up to each class every day. What else was there to do? They absorbed the material, soaked up the lectures, and finished each assignment before heading home.
The rest of the school day--passing periods, nutrition break, lunch--while the other students talked, laughed, horsed around, and ignored them, they clung to one another. His lips lingered on her forehead; her fingertips lingered on his chest. Everyone existed but them; no one existed but them.
At the end of the day, they drifted off campus and headed for home--a rose garden across town. They weren't physically bound to that spot, but loyalty kept them there. Their ashes were scattered all around the beautiful blooming bushes, a living memorial to their short lives. Mere feet away, on the edge of the sidewalk, people still left gifts and mementos to mark their passing, their murder. A drive-by shooting. A case of mistaken identity.
As day faded into night, they sat in each others arms, lips fluttering, hands caressing. Tomorrow they'd return to school, as they did every day, though no one knew. They were nothing. Shadows. Ghosts. Wraiths.

Blog Ghost Story
I started my new blog today. It's called Weird Happenings. It's a story about 16 year old Jason Bellows who lives in what he believes to be a haunted house. I'm telling the story from his point of view--Weird Happenings is his blog that he started to keep track of the, well, weird things happening in his house.
I don't know how long I plan to continue this project. I can see going for years to come. I don't have an overall story in mind yet other than Jason living with ghosts. I'm just going to write from the seat of my pants four or five (maybe more) times a week. If I get to a point where I see a neat conclusion, maybe I'll write it and start something else. If I keep getting ideas for Jason and his ghosts, I'll keep going with this. I have some vague ideas about where I'd like to ultimately go with this, but I also only have vague ideas about where I'm going to be with it in a week or two. I find this prospect exciting. It'll be seat-of-my-pants writing!
As I said, I plan to update it multiple times a week, but probably not more than once a day. Feel free to bookmark that page and check often to see if I have anything new. My Stories Pt. 2
Here comes four more of my stories. I figured I'd make them all horror stories in this update: two ghost stories, one adventure story, and one that I'll classify as straight horror.
Graves of Chance : This one is what I would classify as an adventure/horror story. The main character isn't really Indiana Jones-worthy, but he gets the job done. I enjoyed writing this one, and I hope you enjoy reading it.
Dagger of the Dread King : This is the one that I'd classify as straight horror, though you may disagree with me. Instead of the Dread King, I'd originally said it was Merlin's dagger. Someone read it (I believe it was my mom) and said they didn't quite get the story because they didn't view Merlin as evil. I agreed and created the fictional Dread King. I think it works much better that way. This story came from my love of looking at the ornimental swords you see in catalogs and specialty shops.
Children of the Mall : This one is a ghost story. I wrote it to just be a goofy little story, more comedy than horrific events, but I suppose if you really look at the characters it is a pretty depressing story. I had fun writing this one. I guess that speaks volumes about me, huh?
Playin' the Blues : Here is another ghost story. This one has a bit more of the classic horror elements of a ghost story. I brought my love for the electric guitar into this one. Though my real love is heavy metal and hard rock, there is something magical about a blues axeman. This story didn't flow as easy as some, but once I cleaned it up a bit, I think it's one of my better stories.
I have four more left to post, but I'll save them for next time. I hope you enjoy these four, as well as the four from part one. Until next time... (still looking for a snazy sign off line--I'll get one sooner or later).
